The Skyscraper Highheel Platform and Why I Can't Get Enough
The Highheel Platform has taken design to an all new high, even though the unimaginable heel's level makes them terrible to walk in.
I would really love to possess all of of the season's latest most fashion forward pumps in a good ole' size 11! But since we know that won't be happening anytime soon, I'll have to drool over them from a distance, while gasping and aww-ing at the same time.It seems as if each and every model has had their fall at some stage in time, nevertheless any time you add 5"-7" high heel to the combination, the odds of models dropping will go through the roof.
Heels usually are not the simplest items to go walking in but neither are they the toughest, believe me I know! Over time, I've accumulated a few good pair of heels myself! But as the saying goes, don't give up and try, try again!
I think the only thing that the models were missing is a few towering stilettos of their own. But let's consider reality for a minute:
...Those models' feet are probably giving them hell!
They travel all over the world, showing up in all the major shows, all usually sporting the latest highheel platforms! So fashion week probably wreeks havoc on their feet! Now for me, I usually don't have heels on for days at a time, but once I wore some 5.5" heels for Halloween for 3 hours! So I was definitely paying dearly the next day 
And right at the height of the trend in Fall 2008 for the Spring 2009 shows, Prada had the wonderful idea to bring platforms and ankle socks together which, by the way, a few people including myself thought was a cute idea but in reality slick soles and socks don't like each other! So here a model, there a model, everywhere a model was falling!
And poor Nicholas Kirkwood, he even had doubts and reportedly told Style.com that he was over the trend! He was also regretting the shoes he had made for the Rodarte show that, while sexy, caused just as many problems.
All in all, it's a love-hate relationship with the Highheel Platform and I, and I love them so much more than I hate them!
